8-14-17 - Officer Involved Shooting / 5000 block Rossville Blvd


  • During the course of an investigation, officers of the Chattanooga Police Department and Rossville Police Department made contact with the suspect at the 5000 block of Rossville Blvd
  • A short time later, shots were fired by law enforcement and the suspect was struck by this gunfire
  • The suspect was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries
  • The Hamilton County District Attorney's office assigned the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office the lead role in investigating the incident
  • The scene was secured by the Chattanooga Police Department until such time as the HCSO investigators could arrive to lead the investigation into the incident
  • Chattanooga Police and Rossville Police will cooperate with HCSO investigators as they look into the sequence of events which transpired on that day
  • All Chattanooga Police officers who were on scene at the time of the shooting have been placed on administrative leave, which is per CPD policy after being involved in an application of deadly force

All followup inquires to the above information will be directed to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office. The CPD or RPD will not be providing additional information.

Chattanooga Police ask anyone with information regarding this incident to call the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released by HCSO when available.
